Nah... i don't think so!!!

My math skills are fuzzy around the edges, so i checked with a maintenance and facilities expert that i happen to live with...

According to Bubba, it all depends on whether or not the tons are metric or u.s. tons...

a metric ton = 2,200 u.s. lbs.
a u.s. ton = 2,000 u.s. lbs.

I figure in France they are using metric tons so...

50 tons x 2,200 lbs per ton = 110,000 lbs

110,000 lbs divided by 12 lbs per gallon = 9166.57 u.s. gallons of paint to paint the eiffel tower using 50 metric tons of paint

or...

100,000 lbs divided by 12 lbs per gallon = 8.333.34 u.s. gallons of paint to paint the eiffel tower using 50 u.s. tons of paint
