Meet Sandra Boynton!

Sandra Boynton was born April 3, 1953 in Orange, N.J. She was raised in Philadelphia, the 3rd of 4 daughters, in a Quaker family.

She attended Germantown Friends School (a Quaker school), where her father was headmaster. Sandra then went onto Yale, where she majored in English. In the summer of her junior year, she began to design greeting cards, which she had her uncle print.

Ms. Boynton went to UC Berkley to study drama after graduating from Yale. She then transferred to Yale’s School of Drama, where she eventually dropped out altogether.

Sandra married Jamie McEwan, a 1972 Olympic Bronze medalist in Whitewater Canoe Slalom singles. The happy couple had four children and lived in the Berkshires.
