I'd say cutting of the oil pipeline to the Ukraine on New Year's after a price dispute resulting from the Ukraine's western leanings indicates a backslide in democracy...even the EU is considering a pipeline from Kaskastan that bypasses Russia. If you don't hold them to task with open discussion as we are attempting, then you have a problem.
