Our Freedom May Be Lost IF These People Have Their Way...

In a move that could be just as upsetting to viewers as the idea to put commercials in between TV programs in the first place, Phillips has filed a patent that may force viewers to sit helplessly through commercials. The patent is expected to manipulate Multimedia Home Platform (MHP), the technology that runs most modern Television receivers and recorders. The idea looks to prevent users not only from fast-forwarding pre-recorded material but to also prevent users from even changing the channel. Click TiVo to read the gory details...

i have dish network and if they did that i would totally get rid of it. i think such a move is not financially sound for tivo.

well, it's on the plan for a patent and truly panders to the culture of comsumption. how sick to be so greedy!!

i'm not a big fan of tv to begin with... wouldn't take much to turn me off completely... this would do it!

ok but if you want to talk about TiVo specifically it should be noted that people specifically pay for that service for those features they are talking about discontinuing. if that happens it can no longer be a pay service unless it provides other significant features. otherwise, it's just another cable box...
