Update

Just left Gramma's. I made her "new" bed all pretty. She seems to accepting things a little better~for now!

Another Fight is A Brewin'!

Well...we got the hospital bed for Gramma today. It is in her living room. Needless to say, some one is pissed! She yelled at the poor fella who set it up. She yelled at me. Gramma just doesn't understand how bad she really is now. I told her that it was all my idea. That way Firecop doesn't get too much shit! She feels so humiliated. I told her I honor her feelings about it. I told her she can be angry with me and that my love for her is greater than the anger she has right now. I told her that all the stomping and moping and humiliation is NOT going to change the fact that there is a bed in her living room! (Funny, we're used to ELEPHANTS aren't we??!!) I told her this is the best way I know to love and care for her. I promised no one would ever see her lying in bed unannounced. I was crying at this point, and then I told her I loved her more than anything in this world and she is the light of my life. She told me she loves more than she does her own daughter! I know this, but it helps to have us talk love than to argue about her sleeping on the first floor. I am currently getting all the bedding together to make the bed pretty and then Little Man and his buddy and I are off to Wegmann's!!!!

Serious stuff today

I just have to journal a little today. I am frustrated, angry, sad and confused. My grandmother's situation is overwhelming me. Heidi came over last night and said she figured since she hadn't heard from me, something big must be up. Gotta love your friends, huh? I looked at her and saw how skinny she has gotten and I just became even more depressed. I hate being this way. She is the most kind and loving person...and here I am jealous because I am not skinny anymore.
Truevalueman keeps harping on me on how I don't spend Thursday with him. I tried to explain that I don't get a choice when we have these team meetings with the Hospice. But he thinks I should schedule at his convenience, not theirs, I guess.
The kids are just nasty. I think you are right Spacey, I have created my own monster. And I think Momma Bear is right, as well...they know I am weak right now. Funny thing is, I would never treat my children this way if they were hurting. So I am a bit surprised at how I am being treated. Little Man is overcompensating for his sisters. I tell him I am ok, that he doesn't HAVE to take care of me. He just wants to make sure I am OK. I reassure as much as I can. I am not dying, I am greiving.
I am greiving on so many levels I scare myself. My oldest is growing up, my grandma is dying, my relationship with my mother is dead, my uncle may not recover fully from the bladder cancer, and I am sick and tired of my significant other!
Needless to say...I am fried. Stick a fork in me, I am done.
I do have to say that for the first time in my life, my friendships are sustaining me. All of you have asked nothing from and given me everything. It is the only thing reminding me the God is watching over me. Thank you!

Love...

Yesterday, I watched Momma Bear and her Lil Dragon together. What a lovely sight! A Lao-Lao is truly a special person...one in whom all Lil Dragons can cuddle and trust. I loved watching Lil Dragon wrap herself tighter around Momma and Poppa Bear's little fingers. Lil Dragon is no fool...she knows what she wants and how to get it. This Mama0 was nourished watching the love fest between her best friend and her grandchild. But it was even better to see Poppa Bear mush all up and get his big bear hands all twisted and bend literally over backwards to make sure Lil Dragon was happy!
Samigurl had such a special time having tea and 'zerts. She truly was overwhelmed and speechless. I am so grateful for such loving friends! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon, Momma and Poppa!

We're gettin' close to Impeachment, Momma Bear!

IQ Scores & Ratings
What is a good IQ score? What is a high IQ score? What is a low IQ score? These are common questions, particularly after someone finds out their score from an IQ test.
Lewis Terman (1916) developed the original notion of IQ and proposed this scale for classifying IQ scores:
· Over 140 - Genius or near genius
·
· 120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence
·
· 110 - 119 - Superior intelligence
·
· 90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence
·
· 80 - 89 - Dullness
·
· 70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency
·
· Under 70 - Definite feeble-mindedness
·

It's all so clear, now...

Who pulls the strings?

To: Exxon Mobil
Boycott call against Exxon Mobil In March of this year, George W. Bush announced that the United States would not ratify the Kyoto Treaty. Bush justified his rejection of the Kyoto Treaty stating it would not be in the best economic interests of the American people. It appears this rejection is more a response to Bush needing to payback the large corporations who paid for his presidential election campaign, namely Exxon Mobil. Obviously, global warming is the most serious threat for the survival of humankind. The U.S. is the world's largest producer of greenhouse gas producing 25% of the worldwide C02 emissions with just 4% of the world's population. Global warming is becoming more and more apparent. The warmest decade on record was the 1990's with 1998 being the warmest year ever. At this current trend, in less than 15 years, the glacier on Africa's Kilimanjaro, will melt . Climate Change Solutions: What You can Do Right Now
We know. It's overwhelming.
The threat of global warming hangs over our planet like a storm cloud. If not checked soon, it could some day soon cause untold – possibly irreparable – harm to our planet's ecosystem, triggering:
severe weather changes;
threats to our food and water supplies;
rising sea levels;
glacier melting;
endangerment of thousands of plant and animal species;
the spread of deadly diseases.
But there is good news. The world now recognizes the problem. Governments around the globe are taking action to cap carbon dioxide emissions (which account for more than half of the greenhouse gases that trap the sun's heat inside the earth's atmosphere), set meaningful targets for fuel-efficient cars and offer incentives for green buildings.
The U.S. government, unfortunately, has not led the debate on climate change solutions, and has been slow to embrace significant change in these big areas. In short, the U.S. government either says the threat isn't real – despite almost unanimity among scientists that the threat is real and imminent -- or that dealing with it will harm the economy. True Story!!!
False Doctor Held For Giving Free Breast ExamsApril 20, 2006 2:55 p.m. EST
Shaveta Bansal - All Headline News Contributor
Miami, FL (AHN) - A 76-year-old man, who claimed to be a doctor went door-to-door in a Florida neighborhood offering free breast exams, was charged with sexually assaulting two women who accepted the offer, police said on Thursday.
One woman became suspicious after the man asked her to remove all her clothes and began conducting an alleged genital exam without putting on rubber gloves, investigators said.
The woman then phoned the Broward County Sheriff's Office and the suspect fled. He was arrested at another woman's apartment in the same Lauderdale Lakes neighborhood on Wednesday, a sheriff's spokesman said.
According to Reuters, the white-haired suspect, Philip Winikoff, carried a black bag and claimed to be visiting on behalf of a local hospital.
Winikoff was not a doctor, sheriff's spokesman Hugh Graf said. He worked as a shuttle driver for an auto dealership.

Making A Loving Decision

Today we made the decision to move forward with Hospice Care for my grandmother. Hospice Care is no longer confined to those with terminal illnesses, but rather a large population who chose to die with dignity and at home. This decision mandates no more hospital visits. So Grandma will no longer have to endure poking and proding to find out that she is old and her body is weakening! As luck (or God) would have it, my old friend Kim showed up at the door today to do the assessment. Right away, I knew this was going to be O.K.!(Spacie: yes, another "Joyce" moment!) Admittance begins Sunday and care will start on Monday. We will have "on-call" services 24/7 with Medicare helping with the money aspect. Probably the last sacred ground Mr. Bush hasn't decimated in our health-care system! Thank You Spacie Gracy...I owe you so much! Photo is of Gramdma and baby Katherine in Leavenworth!

Hospice Defined

What Is Hospice Care?

Hospice is a concept rooted in the centuries-old idea of offering a place of shelter and rest, or "hospitality" to weary and sick travelers on a long journey. Dame Cicely Saunders at St. Christopher's Hospice in London first applied the term "hospice" to specialized care for dying patients in 1967. Today, hospice care provides humane and compassionate care for people in the last phases of incurable disease so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible.
Hospice is a philosophy of care. The hospice philosophy recognizes death as the final stage of life and seeks to enable patients to continue an alert, pain-free life and to manage other symptoms so that their last days may be spent with dignity and quality, surrounded by their loved ones. Hospice affirms life and neither hastens nor postpones death. Hospice care treats the person rather than the disease; it emphasizes quality rather than length of life. It provides family-centered care involving the patient and family in making decisions. Care is provided for the patient and family 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Hospice care can be given in the patient's home, a hospital, nursing home, or private hospice facility. Most hospice care in the US is given in the home, with a family member serving as the main hands-on caregiver. For more information, click the pic...

A Tale of Two Boos...

For those in the know, my nickname has always been Little Miss Boo. So when my neice acquired the nickname "Boo" as well...you can imagine the bond between us got stronger. Today I spent the day with my Boo for Grandparent's Day at her school. We ate homemade chocolate and drank sodas in the sun. Of course, we were the only ones decked out in Hawaiian leis; we told one lie after another--we said I came all the way from Maui. Who could doubt these faces???

Our Freedom May Be Lost IF These People Have Their Way...

In a move that could be just as upsetting to viewers as the idea to put commercials in between TV programs in the first place, Phillips has filed a patent that may force viewers to sit helplessly through commercials. The patent is expected to manipulate Multimedia Home Platform (MHP), the technology that runs most modern Television receivers and recorders. The idea looks to prevent users not only from fast-forwarding pre-recorded material but to also prevent users from even changing the channel. Click TiVo to read the gory details...

As per Buddha's Request..

Dream #1: I want to go to Ireland!

Hmm...separated at birth?

News we're not being told...

What is Depleted Uranium?
The misnamed 'Depleted' Uranium is left after enriched uranium is separated from natural uranium in order to produce fuel for nuclear reactors. During this process, the fissionable isotope Uranium 235 is separated from uranium. The remaining uranium, which is 99.8% uranium 238 is misleadingly called 'depleted uranium'. While the term 'depleted' implies it isn't particularly dangerous, in fact, this waste product of the nuclear industry is 'conveniently' disposed of by producing deadly weapons.
Depleted uranium is chemically toxic. It is an extremely dense, hard metal, and can cause chemical poisoning to the body in the same way as can lead or any other heavy metal. However, depleted uranium is also radiologically hazardous, as it spontaneously burns on impact, creating tiny aerosolised glass particles which are small enough to be inhaled. These uranium oxide particles emit all types of radiation, alpha, beta and gamma, and can be carried in the air over long distances. Depleted uranium has a half life of 4.5 billion years, and the presence of depleted uranium ceramic aerosols can pose a long term threat to human health and the environment. Computer programmer Clinton Curtis testified at the December 13th, 2004 Congressional hearing in Columbus, Ohio naming Republican Congressman Tom Feeney as the person who hired him to prepare vote-rigging software.
The programmer claims that he designed and built a "vote rigging" software program at the behest of then Florida Congressman, now U.S. Congressman, Republican Tom Feeney of Florida's 24th Congressional District.Clint Curtis, 46, claims that he built the software for Feeney in 2000 while working at a sofware design and engineering company in Oviedo, Florida (Feeney's home district).Click Here watch the video!
